German Auto Plastics Producer Roechling To Open Plant in Craiova

The auto division of German plastics producer Roechling will invest over EUR5 million into building a plant in Craiova, southern Romania, which will supply parts to the local Ford factory and, possibly, to Romanian carmaker Dacia.

"We are searching for a site suitable for a 5,000-square meter production area. The estimated investment will be about EUR5 million only for machinery," Roechling communication director Ina Breitsprecher told MEDIAFAX.

She said the plastics factory will hire around 30 local employees, who will receive partial coaching in a group plant in Italy.

The new factory will provide parts to the Ford plant in Craiova and may also supply the Dacia factory in nearby Arges County. The components produced by Roechling will include engine soundproofing parts, fluid reservoirs and air intakes.

The Roechling group's two divisions, High Performance Plastics and Automotive Plastics, employ 5,400 people and operate in 20 countries.
