The General Mayor, Dorin Chirtoaca condemns the refusal of the Broadcasting Coordinating Council in order to extend the license of the channel PRO TV Chisinau. The General Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca condemns the refusal of the Broadcasting Coordinating Council in order to extend the license of the channel PRO TV Chisinau.

The refusal to extend the license of PRO TV is an attack and a very serious violation of the press freedom and freedom of expression, as well as of the citizens rights from the Republic of Moldova in accurate and truthful information.

This act of the Broadcasting Coordinating Council is an attempt addressed to the democracy itself.

Also, the refusal of the Broadcasting Coordinating Council is illegal and the reasons are ridiculous. The behavior of the regulator institution of broadcasting has an obvious political character and it can be included in the series of actions taken by the repressive communist government with its satellites against PRO TV. The situation becomes even more worrying around parliamentary elections.

According to this situation, the General Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca intimated the European Union Institutions, the Council of Europe and diplomatic missions accredited in the Republic of Moldova to take up attitude confronted by this abuse against PRO TV.

The General Mayor of Chisinau municipality, Dorin Chirtoaca, expresses his support and solidarity to the PRO TV television team.
