The United Nations and the Government of the Republic of Moldova signed a new programme of cooperation

The United Nations and the Government of the Republic of Moldova signed on 10th February a US$ 217 million development and assistance programme for the years 2013-2017. The new programme of cooperation, “Towards Unity in Action: United Nations-Republic of Moldova Partnership Framework”, supports Moldova’s priorities and development challenges in three priority areas: (1) democratic governance, justice, equality and human rights; (2) human development and social inclusion; and (3) environment, climate change and disaster risk management.

“The new Partnership Framework is the result of broad consultations with many partners from government and civil society. It builds on experience gained from the previous programme and further deepens the UN reform in the country to respond more effectively to national priorities”, said Kaarina Immonen, UN Resident Coordinator in Moldova, who signed the programme on behalf of the UN. ”The UN will continue in the coming years to support Moldova’s priorities towards European integration”.
