While Russia tries to put its own government in Moldova, ethnic group conflicts start in Moscow

Police crews are patrolling the streets of Moscow in order to make sure that no more ethnic affrays happen and that the streets of Moscow and its´ inhabitants are safe. This patrolling comes as a result of yesterday’s clashes in Moscow caused by ethnic group conflicts. More than 200 people were arrested yesterday.

The conflict took place in downtown Moscow yesterday and it appears to be ethic based as most of the people arrested were from North Caucasus. Most of the disruptive men were armed with knives and tasers which were confiscated by police officers. The conflict emerged between ethnic Russians and members of the Caucasus ethnic groups.

Police spokesman Col. Viktor Biryukov made a statement to Russian state-run news agency RIA-Novosti and Interfax in which he declared that most of those involved were taken into custody and send to police stations for further investigations. It was the same spokesman who confirmed that the men were armed with knives and tasers.

The situation is under control now but reportedly 3,000 Moscow police officers were sent on the streets yesterday to maintain order and to prevent other clashes from happening. The central part of the city was filled with police forces and Interior Forces soldiers who were checking people’s papers. Half of the police officers were sent in the area of Kiyevsky Station where the clashes between Caucasian ethnic group members and ´´radical youths´´ happened and in other railway terminals as well. However in downtown parts of Moscow conflicts could not be kept under control and clashes emerged. Rallies and demonstrations were expected so this extra security police movement was justified.
